South Bank Sailing Club provides competitive dinghy racing in London on the Thames throughout the year. It is friendly, open to all, and is based in one of London's most countrified locations. The Club has good Enterprise and Laser fleets, and offers regular mixed-fleet and Laser racing. SBSC has a number of dinghies for members to hire and is committed to helping members improve their sailing. If you are interested in joining, please contact us to arrange a visit.

How to find us

The Club is a half mile walk or cycle along the south bank towpath from Putney Bridge, heading towards Hammersmith. You pass a number of rowing clubs, a park, the Sea Scouts building and a Scout hut. SBSC is directly across the river from Fulham Football Club. Coming along the towpath from Hammersmith Bridge it is about three quarters of a mile.

If driving from Putney, drive past the rowing clubs and on until the road stops. The Club is another 200 yards on foot.

If you are coming from Barnes or Hammersmith, or trailing a boat to the Club, then you need to come round to the back entrance instead: see below.

Road access to SBSC is via Barn Elms Sports Centre, not the river towpath. Please do not use the SBSC postcode to find us if you are trailing a boat, since this leaves you 200 yards from the club.

Instead, follow directions to the London Wetlands Centre - postcode SW13 9SA – which is near Barnes (see the red circle on the map above). Then continue onwards along Queen Elizabeth Walk into the Barn Elms Sports Centre and follow the road across the playing fields in the direction of Craven Cottage, Fulham FC. The clubhouse is just past the rowing centre.
